The media loves to make hay with absurd economic statements: “[harmless thing] will cost [absurd amount] in lost productivity.” For example, “Solar eclipse will cost $700 million in lost productivity”. I wonder if anyone’s worked out the lost productivity associated with the media ginning up a perpetual state of soul crushing anxiety and rage.
